Panchanga — The Five Limbs of Vedic Time
Panchanga (from Pancha — five, and Anga — limbs) is the traditional Vedic calendar used to find the most auspicious times for important activities. It combines the positions of the Sun and Moon to evaluate the quality and energy of each day, and is essential for selecting Shubh Muhurta.

Yoga is found by adding the longitudes of the Sun and Moon. There are 27 Yogas, each a distinct combination of solar and lunar energy that influences the nature of the day.
Highlighted Yogas (Siddhi, Shiva, Shubha, Saubhagya, Sukarma, Brahma, Indra) are generally favourable for important beginnings.
5. Karana (Half a Tithi)
A Karana is half of a Tithi. There are 11 Karanas — seven movable (recurring) and four fixed — used to judge the suitability of a specific window within a Tithi for travel, ceremonies or business.
